Our Recommended Route

01

The Recommended Way

Via Lohaghat & Tanakpur

The road less taken. The one that stays with you.

This is the route we quietly press into every guest's hands. The Tanakpur–Lohaghat corridor cuts through the most unhurried, least-touristed corner of Kumaon - old forests, small towns, mountain light that arrives differently here. It is not the simplest way to travel to Misty and beyond. It is the one of the most scenic routes in the himalayas.

Delhi / Lucknow

Your journey begins. Head towards Tanakpur via the plains.

Lohaghat STOPOVER

~7 hrs from Delhi · A quiet hill town. Usually, guests take a pit stop here. You can even rest here overnight — the mountains deserve a rested arrival.

Gangolihat

The final valley before Misty. Ancient temples, dramatic gorges, pine-scented air.

Misty Mountains, Jhaltola

~3 hrs from Lohaghat — The forest opens, and there it is.

On your return, the drive back to Delhi via Tanakpur and the plains takes 12–13 hours — the second half is flat and easy, entirely doable in a single day.

02

Via Train or Road

Via Kathgodam & Naukuchiatal

The classic Kumaon entry with a lakeside pause worth lingering over.

Delhi to Kathgodam is well-served by train — a comfortable overnight or morning departure brings you into the hills. From Kathgodam, the road winds through Naukuchiatal, Bhimtal, Dhanachuli and Jageshwar before arriving at Misty. A night at the lake is more than a stopover — it is the first exhale of the journey.
